POSTPONED!!!

Since weather forecasters are always 100% correct because of their “science” (and definitely not a blindfolded monkey tossing chicken bones) that they use to “predict” the weather, we’re going to postpone tomorrow’s Kenosha Book Festival to next week – SUNDAY, JUNE 2ND.

CLICK HERE FOR THE UPDATED EVENT PAGE

Most of the scheduled authors will be able to make it but keep an eye out to see who else might be coming.

Welcome to Asylum.

Twelve-year-old Hayden Black has never been normal, that much she knew, but when her father is abducted by demons, she learns just how remarkable she truly is. Not only is she a witch, but Heaven’s angels have chosen her as the next Salem Witch, destined to protect the world from evil… if she can survive the deadly Salem Witch Trials first.

Now Hayden must traverse the magical world of Asylum and learn to use her powers. If she doesn’t master all five elements — air, fire, water, earth, and Spirit — before her seventeenth birthday, she forfeits her life.

Hayden might have started her journey orphaned and alone, but it doesn’t take her long to forge new friendships and attract new enemies. Hayden thought her only nemesis was the residential bully, but her greatest enemy, a terrible evil lurking in the shadows, has yet to reveal itself.

Will Hayden master her air magic in time to save her friends and find her father? Or will she perish alongside them?

Huckleberry Rahr – Kenosha Book Festival 2024

Huckleberry Rahr is coming to Studio Moonfall’s Kenosha Book Festival 2024 on May 26th and August 25th!

Huckleberry Rahr is a mathematics instructor at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She spent many years teaching math around the Midwest and in Papua New Guinea with the Peace Corps. Her parents instilled a love of reading from a young age.

She grew up with lesbian moms who had a huge collection of women authors with heroines as the protagonist. Her favorite genre was fantasy and science fiction, that is, until she discovered urban fantasy. What her mom’s library lacked were books with characters that looked like her family: diversity in background, gender identity, and sexuality. She decided if she couldn’t find that series, then she would write it.

Here’s a sneak peek at their book Wolf Healer:

A young shifter excited to take her place in the pack. A savage attack that could destroy her future.

Jade Stone cherishes her family. With loving parents and a supportive community, the fifteen-year-old queer soon-to-be-werewolf can’t wait to take her place in the pack as a healer. But when she’s invited to vacation in Florida, she discovers the shocking existence of werepanthers… after one bites her.

Returning to her native Wisconsin with feline blood coursing through her, Jade is confused and disappointed when former packmates shun her. As she navigates a brand of bigotry she never knew existed, Jade fears she may be exiled from the home and family she loves.

Ostracized and alone, will Jade find a place she belongs?

Wolf Healer is a book for anyone who enjoys urban fantasy books with werewolves, strong female leads, and unexpected twists and turns. It’s a book anyone and everyone can enjoy.

Buy Wolf Healer today and prowl with new friends as they navigate wereanimals, life paths they never expected, and of course, school.

Catherine Butzen – Kenosha Book Festival 2024

Catherine Butzen is coming to Studio Moonfall’s Kenosha Book Festival 2024 on May 26th!

Catherine Butzen was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. Her parents’ habit of reading aloud to the family—history, science fiction, it didn’t matter as long as it was a good book—taught her to appreciate storytelling in all its forms. Her favorite Russian fairy tales and the city of Chicago itself were the inspiration for her first book, “”Thief of Midnight.”” She currently lives and works in Madison, WI.

Here’s a sneak peek at their book Painter of the Dead:

True Love vs. Ancient Curses…

When the Egyptology department needs funds to offset a recent spate of museum thefts, Theodora Speer grudgingly trades her painting smock for an evening gown. Charming donors isn’t usually her idea of a good time—but then, she doesn’t usually get to meet handsome and mysterious men like Seth Adler.

Seth Adler is desperate to get close to a very specific Egyptian mummy, and attending a fundraising gala seems just the ticket. He doesn’t expect to meet Theo, refreshing in her honesty and intriguing him against his will . . . and he definitely doesn’t expect her to interfere with his plans.

Frantic to escape before the police catch up, Seth kills himself in front of Theo. Except it turns out he’s not so dead after all, and it’s up to Theo to keep him that way. Even if it means fleeing the police, practicing ancient Egyptian magic, and confronting the real thief.

A.R. Grimes – Kenosha Book Festival 2024

A.R. Grimes is coming to Studio Moonfall’s Kenosha Book Festival 2024 on May 26th and August 25th!

Born and raised in Wausau, Wisconsin, A.R. Grimes started writing “books” about dinosaurs in the second grade but moved on to writing fantasy after reading J. R. R. Tolkien, Madeleine L’Engle, and C. S. Lewis. She spent over twenty years trying to complete her debut novel, Wyldling Snare, and is living proof that any fool can get published nowadays. Several of her poems and short stories won awards in her alma mater Carroll University’s literary magazine (1998-2001). She is a member of SCBWI. Other than reading and writing, she enjoys singing in the church choir, listening to music, making fused glass art, drawing, daydreaming, and going on nature hikes. She is married to a martial arts enthusiast and currently lives in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. They share the house with two male offspring and two cats who—naturally—are the true overlords.

Here’s a sneak peek at their book Wyldling Snare:

Welcome to Tehara: an untamed world where magic is possible, dangerous creatures roam the wilderness, and a hidden adversary schemes to overthrow the rule of the Baron-Knights.

Apprentice knight Enoch Northward returns home from a festival to find the Baron-Knight of the Northern Marches dead, the heir-apparent missing, and himself expected to rule in their stead. While he grieves the loss of his beloved guardian, Enoch is determined to prove his ability to lead despite his incomplete training. But he struggles to follow in such large footsteps. A search for missing people draws him into the forbidden Darkenwood Forest, where he discovers a path to another world… and a secret within himself that may destroy everything he loves.

Wyldling Snare–a young adult portal fantasy and the first installment of the Wyldling Dream series–is a coming of age story with underlying themes of faith, friendship, and found family.
