Before becoming an author, I spent over a decade teaching amazing students from preschool through middle school. One of my favorite parts of teaching was reading with my students! I love how stories spark curiosity, empathy, and wonder.
For years, I dreamed of writing books but always shelved the ideas for “later.” When I became a mama, I stepped away from the classroom and decided it was finally time to bring my stories to life! Now, I couldn’t be more excited to see families and classrooms sharing smiles, giggles, and special moments through my books.
During my teaching journey, I learned sign language to communicate with a student—and I completely fell in love with it! That experience inspired me to create picture books that teach sign language, in collaboration with an incredible Deaf consultant. As one of my first graders once said, “Everyone should learn sign language because it stretches your brain and helps you make new friends.” I couldn’t agree more. My hope is to help build bridges through inclusive and engaging stories.
My “Drama Kitty” series is based on the true (and very dramatic) antics of a real-life cat—guaranteed to bring giggles and, of course, lots of drama!
My “Sign With Me” and “Sign With Friends” series are close to my heart and introduce sign language to children in fun, interactive ways, inspired by the people who have truly changed my life.
In addition to writing and illustrating books, I’ve created over 100 educational resources on TPT and share even more on my YouTube channel.
