If you asked Andi May what she wanted to be when she grew up, she’d say: “writer by day, dancer by evening, and Batman by night”. . . and she’s pretty much, more or less, made that dream a reality. She grew up as a competitive dancer and now teaches, choreographs, and performs professionally. She earned her BFA as a double major in dance and creative writing from UW-Milwaukee, and just recently she earned her MFA in creative writing from Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL. She earned the department’s Thesis Award in 2022 for her novel-length YA Fantasy thesis Pyxis Nautica. She lives in Southeast Wisconsin, a perfect middle-ground between Chicago and Milwaukee so that she can get to dance gigs in both cities. Andi May also loves all different sorts of gaming with her four younger siblings, cuddling with her kitties, cosplaying as a pirate, texting her best friends in the middle of the night about some book or videogame she just finished, drinking different kinds of green tea, riding rollercoasters, staying late after class at the dance studio chatting with her students about life, or being a self-proclaimed professional fangirl who obsesses over more fandoms than she should ever admit.
